The Sea Darwin Bombing of Darwin Cruise will visit relevant WWII sites on the Harbour, including the Pearling Luggers, Stokes Hill Wharf, MV Neptuna and Air Raid Interpretation, War time Communications, Monument of USS Peary, Wreck of USS Peary, Doctors Gully Flying Boat base, HMAS Coonawarra, Cliff Top Gun Emplacements and Cullen Bay.
Both facets of this tour use local guides who have a passion for history and a yearning to know as much as they can about Darwin’s imperative role in WWII. The commentary is in real time and also includes narrative about current events in Darwin. Our guides love to answer questions. If they don’t know the answer, they will find out!
The Bombing of Darwin Cruise is conducted on one of two Sea Darwin vessels. It might be the 20-seater MV Snubfin or the 32-seater MV Flatback. Both of these vessels are fast, open boats with canopies. For wet season tours the boats have the capacity for clear screen to drop to protect from the weather.
The Bombing of Darwin Cruise, Bombing of Darwin Double or WWII Half Day Tour can be tailored to any group size, from 2 to 60. We have a range of vessels and vehicles available. Generally you will be in groups of up to either 6, 13 or 22.
Yes, we can organise a private tour for you! For all private tours we will tailor the itinerary to suit. We can cater even if it is only one person or to a group of up to 60! We also pride ourselves on making history interesting for school groups. Please call 1300 065 022 or contact us for a quote or to discuss a private tour.
The fare for the WWII Half Day Tour includes the following:
The WWII Half Day Tour includes Darwin CBD pick-up and drop-offs. The CBD includes the Darwin City area as far out as Stuart Park and the Mindil Beach Casino. Please contact Sea Darwin on 1300 065 022 if you are located just outside these boundaries, as pick up outside the CBD will depend on numbers on the day. The central pick up location for those travelling into the city is outside the Tourism Top End Centre (Tourist Information Centre) at Bennett Park, which is on the corner of Bennett and Smith Streets.
The pick-up and drop-off is an inclusion only for the WWII Half Day Tour. For those doing the Bombing of Darwin Cruise at 11am, the departure point is Dock 2 at Stokes Hill Wharf.
Generally, pick-up time will be between 7.45am and 8.00am on the morning of your WWII Half Day Tour.
The vehicle used for the WWII Half Day Tour depends on numbers on the day. You might be travelling in a 6-seater VW Transporter (Wolfie) or a 13-seater Iveca (Ivy) or a 22-seater coaster bus. Sea Darwin can also tailor this tour for larger groups, in which case larger buses would be used.
